Role Overview

Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is currently seeking a Civil CAD Designer to join our team in Hamilton, NJ. The ideal candidate will have an Associate degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, including computer aided design element, or related field and 2 to 5 years civil/environmental design experience using AutoCAD Civil3d software.

Key Responsibilities

·         Work within multidiscipline design teams on wide variety of civil and environmental projects, including site development, infrastructure, landfills, stream restoration, soil and groundwater remediation

·         Grading and drainage design in Civil3d

·         Erosion and sediment control and storm water plan preparation

·         Develop surface models, alignments, profiles, sections, pipe networks and earthwork cut/fill quantities using AutoCAD Civil3D

·         Preparation of project permitting documents for local, state and federal permits.

·         Support preparation of engineering cost estimates for civil and/or environmental construction projects

·         Interact with coworkers and internal clients, while conducting work in a professional and ethical manner

 

Qualifications

·         Associates degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or commensurate experience

·         Erosion and sediment control and storm water plan preparation experience

·         Working knowledge of Carlson Takeoff software is a plus

·         Ability to prepare construction drawings, report figures, and details under limited supervision in accordance with various local, state, or federal CADD standards

·         Familiarity with National CAD Standards is required

·         Knowledge and application of advanced CAD practices relating to plan production including, but not limited to, annotative scaling, x- refs, viewports, appropriate layer controls, and best practices is required

·         AutoCAD Civil3D knowledge and experience

·         Willingness to accept responsibility and additional support tasks

·         Strong dedication to maintaining a safe work environment and promoting company safety culture

·         Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours if/as required

·         Ability to work independently and contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

·         Excellent communication, both verbal and written, and organizational abilities

·         Ability to read, comprehend, and prepare construction drawings and report figures

·         Knowledge of materials of construction and developing construction details

Role Overview

Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is seeking a Project Level Technical Writer – Engineer / Geologist / Scientist for our Technical Services Group in Hamilton, New Jersey.

 

This position is primarily an office position but may include field work on project sites (estimated to be less than 10%) depending upon the specific assignment. This individual will work under the supervision of a principal-level or associate-level professional.

 

Key Responsibilities

·         Organize, compile, evaluate and summarize field and laboratory data

·         Perform standard engineering or scientific calculations

·         Prepare field reports and internal correspondence

·         Technical report writing including Remedial Investigation Work Plans, Remedial Investigation Reports, Remedial Action Work Plans, Remedial Action Reports

·         Field activities may include observation and documentation of soil borings, excavation, and monitoring well installation

·         Collection of soil, groundwater, soil gas, surface water and sediment samples

·         Task manager for field investigation and/or report preparation tasks

·         Responsibilities may also include oversight and coordination of subcontractors during remediation activities

·         Project scoping and proposal preparation including obtaining subcontractor costs and developing cost estimates

·         Follow company and site safety standards

·         Willingness to travel to project sites in the New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania area. Approximately 10% overnight travel possible

·         Company vehicles are provided for field work

Qualifications

·         BS / BA or MS / MA in Geology, Environmental Engineering or related technical field

·         4 to 8 years  environmental consulting or engineering experience

·         Experience as primary author of a minimum of two milestone technical reports (e.g., Remedial Investigation Reports, Remedial Action Work Plans)

·         Knowledge of New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection regulations and guidance preferred

·         Must be a self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Strong computer skills for database work and proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of CAD and GIS software a plus

·         Flexible to work outside normal business hours as required

·         OSHA 40 hour and 8 hour certifications
